Some Android devices have a memory card slot, most often a microSD card format. If you have one of these devices this allows you to:
- store more information with more storage space;
- move some applications from the internal storage of your smartphone to the SD card without losing functionality.
Find out if you have an sd card slot on your device page at the manufacturer's website.
Some of the sd card features are only available on devices running Android 6.0 or later.
Installing the SD Card in the slot of an android device
Step 1: How to Install the Card correctly
- Locate the memory card slot on your device.
- Power off the device.
- Extract the slot or open the back of the device. If necessary raise the card holder.
- Position the card. Lower the holder if necessary.
- Return the slot and/or the back of the device to its original position.
Step 2. How to turn on the sd card
1. After powering on the phone, you will receive a notification to install the memory card.
2. Click on the "Setup" button.
3. Select one of the memory settings:
- Removable Storage. By selecting this option you can save /files (music, photos etc.), transfer them with the sd-card to any device that has a card slot, without losing the saved information. The transfer of applications is not possible in this case.
- Internal memory. By selecting this option you obtain the possibility to save applications on an additional storage device, however they can only be used on this device. After you have transferred the SD card to another device it will be emptied.
4. Carry out further settings according to the prompts that appear on the telephone display.
5. When you have completed the memory settings press the "Done" button.
Use the SD card
How to transfer the applications to the memory card
If you have selected "Internal Memory" during setup, you may transfer some applications to the additional memory. Not all applications are available for the transfer from internal storage to the external storage.

Go to the settings of your device.

Find the item "Applications".

Choose what you wish to save to the memory card.

Select "Storage".

Go to the "Used" section and click on "Change".

Select "SD Card".

Select the further setting as indicated on your smartphone display.
How to move /files from phone to Android memory card
If during the setup you have selected the option "Removable Storage", this allows you to move the /files stored on your phone (music or pictures, etc.) to the sd-card, thus freeing up the internal storage of your smartphone.
Step 1. Copying the /files stored on your phone to the external storage
- Go to the settings of your device.
- Click "Storage".
- Click "Internal Storage".
- Select the type of /files you wish to move.
- Press the three dots (⋮) and select "Copy to...".
- Select Save → SD Card.
- Select the folder in which you wish to save the /files.
- Copy the selected /files.
Step 2. Deleting /files stored on the internal storage of the smartphone.
- Go to the settings on your device.
- Select "Storage".
- Select "Internal Storage".
- Select the type of /files you wish to delete.
- Long press to select the /files you wish to delete.
- Select the recycle bin icon.
View the /files or applications saved on your memory card
On the phone you may view a list of all /files, applications. Android also allows you to find out how much free space you have left on your sd-card.
If you have selected "Internal Memory"
- Go to the settings of your device.
- Select "Memory".
- In the list, select the memory card.
- You may now see the amount of used space as well as the remaining free space on your storage card. By selecting the different categories you may view the /files downloaded to the sd-card.
If you have selected "Removable Storage"
- Evoke the control panel by sliding your finger up and down the smartphone screen.
- Press the "Open" button below the active memory card installer.
Format Removable Storage
- Go to your device settings.
- Select "Memory".
- In the menu list, tap sd-card.
- Press the three dots (⋮), select Settings → Format.
- Select "Clear and Format" - this will delete all stored applications//files stored in the external storage.
Disconnect and remove the Memory Card
In order to avoid damaging the data stored on the removable drive, you should safely unplug it before removing it!
Step 1: Disconnect the Memory Card
- Go to the Settings of your device.
- Select the item "Memory".
The applications stored on the memory card once unplugged will not operate until the card is inserted and reconnected.
Step 2: Removing the Memory Card
- Locate the sd-card slot on your device.
- Power off the smartphone.
- Eject the slot or open the back of the device. If necessary, lift the memory card holder.
- Pull the memory card out of the slot.
- Fold the slot and/or the back of your device back into the original position.
